Executive Lead - Emerging Products (m|w|d)

As Executive Lead - Emerging Products, you will lead the technical direction of new product initiatives from idea to scalable solution. Your first mission will be to build idealo Pay, creating the technical foundation for future payment and checkout capabilities while exploring how emerging technologies such as AI can shape the future of digital commerce.

Working directly with the CPTO, Engineering, Product and external partners, you will combine technical leadership with entrepreneurial thinking to turn new business opportunities into scalable products. Once an initiative has reached product-market fit and is ready to scale, ownership will transition into idealo's core organisation, allowing you to focus on the next opportunity.

About your new role

• Lead the technical direction of idealo's emerging products, starting with idealo pay.

• Translate business opportunities into scalable technical architectures and implementation roadmaps.

• Take products from early concepts through MVP, validation and scale-up.

• Drive Build vs. Buy decisions and evaluate external technologies and partners.

• Design APIs, platform capabilities and integration strategies for scalable commerce solutions.

• Build and lead a small, highly autonomous engineering team focused on rapid delivery.

• Collaborate closely with Engineering, Product and business stakeholders to align technical decisions with business goals.

• Evaluate emerging technologies, including AI and Agentic Commerce, and identify where they create value for idealo.

Skills & Requirements

• Extensive experience building complex digital products, platforms or distributed systems.

• Strong software engineering background with experience defining scalable architectures.

• Proven experience taking products from concept through MVP to production.

• Strong understanding of APIs, integrations and platform engineering.

• Experience making technical Build vs. Buy decisions.

• Ability to translate business opportunities into scalable technical solutions.

• Strong stakeholder management across Engineering, Product and business.

• High ownership, entrepreneurial mindset and ability to thrive in ambiguous environments.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with commerce, marketplace or checkout platforms.

• Experience with payment service providers or payment orchestration.

• Experience with AI-enabled products or Agentic Commerce.
