Job description

At idealo, data guides every decision. To support this, we offer a compliant, scalable, and cost-efficient data platform within the AWS ecosystem – enabling insights and establishing company-wide standards.

As we shape the long-term vision of our data engineering team, we are currently looking for support in our B2C subteam – a small but crucial team of three engineers working on high-impact topics like compliance and product data quality.

This is an exciting time to join: you’ll become part of a team that’s growing together while setting the foundation for technical excellence, shared ownership, and impactful delivery – in an environment that values diverse perspectives, mutual support, and continuous learning.

The position as Data Engineer (m|f|d) is advertised as full-time or part-time.

About your new role

  • You will be part of the B2C subteam – one of three subteams in our 11-person data engineering unit – where you design and implement new processes that enrich our data and ensure high quality for downstream consumers.

  • Working closely across all three cross-functional subteams, each aligned with a key business domain, you will take end-to-end ownership of (data) products and help shape data into a strategic asset at idealo.

  • In this role, you will be jointly responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining (data) products – including automated filtering of data streams, error detection, and plausibility checks.

  • As part of our supporting functions, we deliver reliable business KPIs and actionable insights that drive key decisions and create real business impact.

  • Data correctness is a top priority at idealo – and we play a central role in achieving it. We enable technical and operational solutions that ensure data quality all the way to the end customer.

  • We believe in ownership: you’ll take responsibility across the entire software engineering workflow and act as an advocate for (data) product quality – both within and beyond your immediate team. You bring a collaborative mindset, care about how we work together, and enjoy helping others grow while growing yourself.
