Cloud Platform Engineer - AWS & Kubernetes (m|f|d)

About your new role

As a Cloud Engineer, you will help develop and operate the AWS-based platform that supports Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure, observability and platform engineering across the company.

The role combines software engineering and hands-on platform operations. In addition to day-to-day responsibilities, you will contribute to cross-functional initiatives and collaborate with engineers from different domains on focused platform improvements.

Because the platform is business-critical, participation in an on-call rotation is part of the role.

When platform services run reliably and teams can deploy with confidence, you see the direct impact of your work.

You will

• Operate and further develop our EKS-based Kubernetes platform in AWS, with a strong focus on security, resilience, scalability and cloud infrastructure.

• Design and implement cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform and Terragrunt.

• Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams to consult on cloud architecture, CI/CD, deployment workflows, observability and cost optimization.

• Support the future merge of Compute and Observability by helping shape reliable platform capabilities across infrastructure, observability and cloud platform engineering.

• Actively use, explore and improve AI tools and workflows to help us build our platform landscape in a smarter, more efficient and future-ready way.

• Take part in our on-call rotation to keep our business-critical platform stable and reliable.

Skills & Requirements

• Professional experience with AWS cloud infrastructure and container technologies, especially Kubernetes and EKS.

• Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code - ideally Terraform and Terragrunt feel like a natural part of your workflow.

• Experience with modern observability tools and concepts, plus a strong interest in secure, reliable and cost-optimized cloud solutions.

• AI competency: you are comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude Code, Cursor AI or similar tools to improve your productivity and engineering workflows.

• You take ownership and independently drive topics forward.

• You enjoy tackling challenges actively and solving them pragmatically.

Bonus points

• Deeper Kubernetes specialization in areas such as networking, observability, security or persistence.

• Hands-on experience with Grafana, Loki, Prometheus metrics or Distributed Tracing.

• Experience with CI/CD, deployment workflows and tools such as GitHub Actions, Flux, ArgoCD or similar.

• Experience with additional AWS compute technologies such as Serverless and ECS.

• Programming skills in languages such as Go or TypeScript and a strong interest in automation.

• A personal interest in cloud-native technologies, curiosity for new tools and concepts, and the intrinsic motivation to continuously learn and improve.
