Software Engineer - B2C Offers (m|f|x)

Our team is responsible for the contents of the list of offers that is shown as a key-feature to our users in the apps and on our website. In our Cloud Native Microservices system, using current Java, MongoDB, NoSQL database and Kafka message streams, we aggregate big data for different use cases in near real-time. We use Kafka topics and APIs to deliver information concerning the pricing and sorting of offers as well as meta information and summaries to several other teams at idealo and our partners. Our work has a measurable effect on idealo’s business everyday!

The position is available as full-time or part-time.

About your new role

• You will work with the rest of the team to design, develop, deploy, operate and improve our system. In doing so, you'll also participate in the team's on-call rotation.
• You'll embrace sound, modern technical practices by working with the team to write clean, well-tested and thoughtfully refactored code.
• You take a proactive approach to your work and have a knack for solving problems in a smart and simple way. You also have a DevOps mentality with the motto "you build it, you run it".
• You will continuously develop and deploy our product (CI/CD).
• Working with agile methods such as Kanban and Pair Programming is just as important to you as working in a self-motivated team that enjoys being involved in the entire software lifecycle.

Skills & Requirements

• Solid experience with Microservices systems using Java 17+, the Spring ecosystem (Boot, Cloud, Data).
• You use unit tests and other forms of automated testing in your daily work.
• Practical experience in Cloud Native development, preferably on AWS, is a plus.
• Nice to have: Experience with Kafka (or similar), MongoDB, NoSQL DB, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, containerization & virtualization, CI/CD, Lambda functions and serverless technologies.
• Our team is international and English is our main communication language.

Work in the office and from wherever you like.

idealo allows you to work from wherever you are. As part of our Hybrid Work at idealo, you decide whether and how often you work from our office in Berlin or remotely because you live in another city within Germany or the café down the street makes the best coffee cream.
