(Senior) Frontend Engineer (f|m|x) - Parental leave replacement

As part of our Pico Pixel team in Catalog Intelligence, you are responsible for the heart of idealo - the inventory. We are cooperating with about 50,000 e-commerce stores in Europe, from small, specialized stores to large marketplaces like Amazon and eBay. Thus, our customers have access to several hundred million items, which we display in the form of products in our content catalog.

One of our unique challenges is to structure and enhance this inventory to provide our customers with the best product-overview of the entire e-commerce market. Therefore, we provide a variety of services for product creation and maintenance along the product-lifecycle. The next big challenge for us is the continuous automation of product curation in AWS.

The position as (Senior) Frontend Engineer (f|m|x) is advertised as a full-time or part-time position limited to 1 year (for a limited period of time) or a maximum of the duration of parental leave.

About your new role

• You work on modern business and web applications hosted in the AWS Cloud, provisioned with Terraform and deployed with GitHub.
• You deliver testable, maintainable, and high-quality code and take end-to-end responsibility for the lifecycle of our products, i.e. architecture concepts, development, DevOps, testing, maintenance.
• Services and components are developed in TypeScript (Angular).
• Your team is part of our agile product development process, and you develop new features in short release cycles.
• New challenges require new insights. Hence, you enjoy learning quickly and closely with your product team to bring value to your partners.
• Technical excellence is your passion, and you promote it whilst keeping the needs of our customers in mind.

• Your profound knowledge in TypeScript contributes to our existing frontend tech-stack, and you are excited to develop new services in the AWS cloud.
• You use unit tests (Karma, Jasmine) and integration tests (Cypress) efficiently to ensure the functionality of your components and services.
• You are comfortable working with GitHub and ideally you can integrate, build and deploy your applications independently in our CI/CD (Github Actions, Terraform, AWS EKS).
• As an experienced software developer, you have in-depth knowledge and skills to sketch architecture-designs of your ideas. Your programming style is characterized by SOLID principles and clean code.
• You have a solution-oriented mindset to solve complex challenges and can structure your tasks with ease.
• Being a team player, you actively involve your peers in finding the best practical solutions and are in close contact with them, for example to share your findings and best practices. You are no stranger to pair programming, code reviews and the pull principle.
• You maintain an open and respectful relationship with your colleagues at eye level and you bring a high level of commitment to continuous improvement.
• You are fluent in English (B2/C1) language; German is optional and not required for daily work.

Work in the office and from wherever you like.
