The search team focuses on finding new ways and technologies to serve our customers with the most relevant results. You can expect purpose - providing people with a fair and unbiased service unlike any other B2C e-commerce company. Day to day, you would find freedom to work it your way - shaping the search with interesting challenges tackled together, in our team of seven amazing colleagues. The challenge awaits you - to serve >40 million customers with >2 billion offers in <100ms search response time. 

The position is available in full or part-time.

About your new role

  • Work as an interface between Product Management, Engineers and Analysts in a cross-functional team to improve idealo’s customer experience through data-driven decision making. 

  • Analyze large and complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities, always with a strong focus on business impact and customer value. 

  • Define and refine problem statements together with Product and stakeholders, translating business needs into clear analytical questions and hypotheses. 

  • Design, run and analyze experiments (e.g. A/B tests) to evaluate product changes and guide decision-making based on causal inference. 

  • You drive solution design and impact assessments collaboratively with the team, ensuring that insights lead to actionable outcomes. 

  • Build dashboards, define KPIs, and monitor performance to make success measurable and transparent. 

  • You proactively identify opportunities where data can unlock value, as well as gaps where additional data or tracking is needed. 

Job requirements

Skills & Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience as a Data Scientist (or similar role) with a track record of delivering measurable business impact. You have a degree (Ph.D., M.Sc. or equivalent) in a quantitative field such as Statistics, Mathematics or a related discipline. 

  • You bring strong experience in experimentation and A/B testing, including hypothesis design, statistical evaluation, and interpretation of causal effects. 

  • You have a product-oriented mindset and enjoy working closely with Product Managers and Engineers to solve real business problems. 

  • You enjoy independently and systematically digging into complex data and analytical tasks. You can set your own goals and produce quantitative results in a goal-oriented manner, which you can present in a comprehensible way.  

  • You are proficient in SQL and Python (e.g. pandas, NumPy, scipy) and can communicate your findings through clear visualizations and storytelling. 

  • You have strong analytical thinking and are comfortable working with complex datasets to generate actionable insights. 

Nice to have

  • Experience with query understanding, semantic search, and linguistic analysis. 

  • German-speaking skills.
