We are looking for a professional or senior level Data Engineer who is passionate about building modern, scalable, and well-engineered data products.

You will be part of a cross-functional development team that is responsible for merchant performance data, fraud detection and providing the basis for idealo’s billing engine.

You will be joining a diverse, loyal and supporting team with challenging new product ideas and ambitious technical migration projects ahead.

The position is available as a full-time or part-time position.

About your new role

  • You will be driving the introduction of data technologies in the team.
  • You will be building and running modern software on AWS.
  • Together with your team you will be taking ownership for decisions on technical implementations and architecture.
  • Additionally, you will be taking end-to-end responsibility for products owned by the team.
  • You will be driving innovation and strive for technical excellence.
  • To create the best possible product, you will be working closely with product management.


Skills & Requirements

  • You have 3+ years of professional working experience as a Data Engineer or similar.
  • Experience with building, deploying and running complex software on AWS (e.g., Kubernetes, Glue/Python, Athena, Elasticsearch, Kafka) is required.
  • You are familiar with advanced SQL programming.
  • You have experience with CI/CD and infrastructure as code.
  • Experience or desire to learn building/maintaining modern enterprise PHP applications utilizing modern frontend technologies is a plus.
  • You are experienced in different software engineering best practices like pair programming, testing, clean code and agile software development frameworks.
  • Your ability to give and take open, constructive feedback is a win for the team.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written (German is a plus) sum up your profile.
